A closed group of people develop the product and release the code along with the binaries, and call these open source projects. There is no open and active community around these projects. Ideally, these need to be called "source open projects". These projects try to gain lot of publicity by branding themselves as open-source, but do not have the true essence of open source. Apache revolves around the community, hence these projects are truly open source projects.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/16764551/1137955718351916378/comments/default/2143398221901935857'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/16764551/1137955718351916378/comments/default/2143398221901935857'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://blogs.deepal.org/2008/06/real-open-source-development.html?showComment=1214806560000#c2143398221901935857' title=''/><author><name>Afkham Azeez</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/03475634735349390668</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='29' height='32' src='http://bp1.blogger.com/_k5n6bZcNC_I/SFyhCozZ-gI/AAAAAAAAAMs/nNhsAnquco4/S220/afkham-azeez.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://blogs.deepal.org/2008/06/real-open-source-development.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16764551.post-1137955718351916378' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/16764551/posts/default/1137955718351916378' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-42830549'/></entry></feed>
